CDAS Criminal Law Articling Report submitted to LSBC
CDAS has provided the Law Society of BC (the "LSBC") with an extensive report on the status of criminal law articles and early criminal law practice in British Columbia. The report details the unique challenges in this field and provides recommendations for lawyers and the LSBC.
The Report found that while many students receive excellent criminal law articles, certain students were mainly being used to manage lawyers' calendars. Several lawyers also cited a lack of funds preventing them from hiring an articling student, though they would share an articling student if the opportunity was available.
The Report and corresponding recommendations have been tabled with the LSBC.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
