CDAS lawyers, Greg Del Bigio, Q.C. and Alison Latimer have been granted intervener status at the Supreme Court of Canada in Williams v. Her Majesty the Queen. This case addresses the police's right to investigate suspected drug dealers by calling cell phone numbers provided by anonymous, unconfirmed tips and offering to buy drugs. CDAS will be arguing that the Barnes bona fide investigation exception ought not extend to digital and virtual locations. Alternatively, CDAS will propose robust guidelines for such investigations.
