CDAS is proud to announce that on December 17, 2019, President Kasandra Cronin was appointed Queen's Counsel for British Columbia. This distinction recognizes counsel who demonstrate professional integrity, good character and excellence in the practice of law.
Ms. Cronin has practiced criminal law in B.C. since she was called to the Bar 20 years ago. In that time, she has represented clients from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds in courts across the province. Ms. Cronin is widely regarded as a leading advocate for Indigenous peoples throughout B.C. and Canada.
Ms. Cronin helped found CDAS in 2015 and has acted as President ever since the organization's inception. In this position, she has dedicated countless hours to legal education and representing the interests and rights of criminal defence lawyers and their clients. Ms. Cronin also played an integral role in securing the recent Legal Aid fee increase through her work with the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers.
